DeMbare prevail over Utd in derby

Dynamos…(0) 1
CAPS United…0
Dynamos midfielder Tawanda Muparati returned to haunt CAPS United with an astonishing strike 10 minutes from time to make the difference in a tension-filled Harare derby at Rufaro yesterday.Muparati repeated last season’s heroic exploits where his late goal sank United interestingly in the first leg of the derby, just like yesterday.
After an intriguing contest where CAPS United’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League winless streak stretched to five games and remained at ninth spot, Dynamos leapt three places up the ladder to settle at fourth place with 27 points.

The Glamour Boys remain unbeaten in six straight derby duels as Makepekepe’s last triumph was on April 13 2009.
After all the industrious effort, especially in the first half, United’s dressing room resembled a funeral wake soon after the match as some dejected players openly wept.
Returning DeMbare midfielder Denver Mukamba whipped in a cross from the left in the 80th minute, and in a bid to clear the ball, Douglas Walaza miscued his header, setting up Muparati who volleyed home from outside the box sending Dynamos fans into frenzy.
While having a quiet afternoon, Muparati snatched victory for his side in what probably was his only meaningful contribution but reasserted his derby scoring tendencies.
“Scoring on these derbies inspires me to do well. I am on cloud nine and hope to follow this up with good performances in matches to come,” said Muparati.
The victors’ assistant coach Tonderayi Ndiraya felt they toiled to a deserved conquest.
“We are satisfied with three points. It was a good performance from the boys and we deserved to win,” said Ndiraya.
CAPS’ manager Sean Connor vanished into the dressing rooms soon after the final whistle where he conducted his post-match interview with a brave face. “A minor mistake cost us but I do not want to point fingers at anyone. The effort, commitment and attitude was there in the players throughout the game but we were just unfortunate not to post a positive result,” Connor said.
