Provisionally, the company — the biggest supplier in the mining industry in Zimbabwe — had offered Warriors R100 000 as winning bonuses if they managed to beat Mali in yesterday’s match.

Warriors’ supporters’ liaison officer Simeone Jamanda said by yesterday afternoon, the company which he lured to join forces in supporting the team, had promised to up the stakes at each stage.

“They have promised to increase the money from the initial R100 000.
If the Warriors qualify for the semifinal, the company has promised to triple the amount to R300 000. If they storm into the finals, the company has promised to make it R600 000,” Jamanda said.

Jamanda challenged other companies to join hands with the rest of the nation when such big sporting events happen.

He however took a swipe at some football supporters who have dragged the name of football into disrepute.

“Football supporters who want to travel with the teams should have all their things in place and not be crybabies when they get to foreign land,” said Jamanda responding to allegations that he had misused funds meant to look after the Warriors’ fans that had travelled to Cape Town.
