Zimbabwean launches mobile virtual network

Former CEO of Zororo-Phumulani, a South African based Zimbabwe funeral insurance and repatriation service provider Edwin Anderson has launched a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO)and application called Poket Mobile Network, the Mbinga Network that has been tipped to be one of the best in South Africa.

The Poket Mobile Network was launched in Johannesburg on Friday evening at an event that was graced by business leaders and the Zimbabwe Ambassador to South Africa His Excellency Ambassador David Hamadziripi.

Speaking at the launch,  Anderson said the idea for the Mobile Virtual Network started in November 2020 and has the cheapest data rates in South Africa on both data and voice calls.

With an infrastructure of two of the best Mobile network providers in South Africa, MTN and Cell C,Poket Mobile Network provides 1 gig of data for 30 days for only R95 and calls R0.66c per minute to any network in South Africa.

The Poket Mobile call centers will enable users to use Shona, Ndebele and Chewa among a host of other official South African languages.

The Network’s fintech division allows users to purchase airtime, electricity, play lotto, pay for DSTV subscriptions and money transfers.

“We have given you the best Mobile Network Operator ever.We are going to create many jobs through agents all over the country”,said Anderson.

Poket Mobile Network also announced its partnership with Zororo-Phumulani which will enable users to pay for their Zororo-Phumulani policies and get rewards in the form of voice call bundles and data bundles.

Ambassador Hamadziripi lauded the Poket Mobile Network team for the efforts they have made so far in terms of jobs creation.

He also emphasized that the government of Zimbabwe was in support of any Zimbabwean business in South Africa.

“We value the close relationship that exists between us and your company, we wish you well and we will continue to support all your endeavors ” Hamadziripi said.
