DOMESTIC and industrial chemicals manufacturing company Kusi Chemicals has continued to register steady growth following a raft of measures to satisfy the market and circumvent Covid-19 induced limitations.

The company’s innovation has seen the fledgling business player continuing to make inroads into various sectors of the economy thanks to its wide array of quality and market tested products.

Kusi Chemicals CEO Maxwell Mugwagwa told Standard Style that the company is fast becoming the go to company for all chemicals and cleaning detergents needs in Zimbabwe and the region thanks to its unparalleled workmanship and customer satisfaction.

“Kusi Chemicals is a subsidiary of the Kusi Group, which incorporates Kusi wholesale, Kusi hardware and Kusi mining. We are more than encouraged by our growth particularly at a time the economy continues to bear the brunt of the Covid-19 induced lock-down which affected operations over the past two years,” Mugwagwa said.

“Our product range and services are quite in sync with the covid-19 situation which has made us one of the key players in combating this disease. From hand sanitisers, deep cleaning chemicals and other related disinfection chemicals and services, Kusi Chemicals has become the flagship service provider and supplier.”

The company specialises in various products namely hard surface cleaner, scouring powder, fabric softener, regular bleach, thick bleach, toilet cleaner, household sanitizer, all purpose cleaner, pine gel, floor polish, tile cleaner, floor glaze, hair shampoo, foam bath, washing powder, detergent paste, channel blocks, de greaser as well as car wash and drain cleaner.

The 100% Zimbabwean owned company which was founded in 2017 has continued to contribute towards a healthy nation and Mugwaga said beyond their leading role in fighting Covid-19, they have always believed in a clean and fresh environment for all.

“Beyond the work we are doing in combating covid-19 through our products and services, we believe a clean and fresh environment is a must hence we have been specialising in the business of manufacturing cleaning detergents for both domestic and industrial purposes,” Mugwagwa said.

Our vision is to reliably surpass expectations of our customers and clients through provision of eco-friendly products and offering quality cleaning solutions to people in Zimbabwe, the Southern African region and beyond.”

Thanks to innovation and continued research on growing the entity, Kusi Chemicals has opened branches in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo and Chinhoyi since inception in 2017. The company has also acquired industrial land where a state of the art manufacturing facility will be constructed within the next five years.

“We have registered marked growth in our operations and we are happy to have opened 4 branches in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo and Mutare thanks to our quest to satisfy the market,” Mugwagwa said.

“In 2019, Kusi Chemicals also diversified into cleaning, fumigation and landscaping services from domestic to commercial level and the success has been resounding. We have also received various accolades in recognition of our work and we are grateful for the strides.”

Some of the accolades received to date include the Gold Medal Product Marketing award at the SME Expo in 2017 and 2018 respectively followed by a silver award at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in 2019 and then the Manufacturing company of the year and Manufacturing Businessman of the year award at the Zimbabwe Business Awards (ZIBA) in 2021.

“Other 2021 accolades include the 2021 SMEs Expo, Silver Medal Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing award as well as the 2021 Gazelles, 4th Award for Great performance in the year 2021.

“I also received the following Honorary Doctorates in November 2021. The first one is the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, DHL from the Institute of Philanthropy (IIP) and the second one is the Honorary Doctor of Business Leadership & Entrepreneurship from the International Women’s University (IWU),” Mugwagwa said.

The passionate businessman also told The Standard Style that the company will be on a major expansion drive in 2023 and will be launching various campaigns and promotions to that effect.

“We are embarking on a major expansion plan for the coming business year with a bias on spreading into the retail market. We are therefore going to introduce various campaigns which we believe will take the market by storm,” he said.

“Our thrust is to become a trusted and valued player in the cleaning and detergents making business and we are doing all it takes to achieve this ideal.”

Kusi Chemicals has also been commended for its Corporate Social Responsibility work and over the years they have reached out to various charities including Chinyaradzo Children’s home as well as Prison services where they have donated both food and non food relief materials to the less privileged.
