ZPC Kariba…… (0) 0
Yadah (0) 1
YADAH FC were able to claim back-to-back wins in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League for the first time this season after a hard-fought win against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium yesterday.
After stunning Harare giants Dynamos last weekend, Yadah were desperate to maintain the momentum against ZPC Kariba, who were also on a high after defeating CAPS United on the road.
In the end, it was Yadah who were smiling again after the final whistle after scoring a late winner to claim all three points for only the fifth time in 19 matches this season.
The all-important goal was scored in the 82nd minute from the penalty spot by Nkosi Mhlanga after Fortune Binzi was fouled inside the box.
After both teams missed opportunities to take the lead the turning point came in the 75th minute when Yadah coach Genesis Mangombe introduced veteran striker Ralph Matema for Godknows Mangani.
A week after scoring the winner against Dynamos, it was Matema who fed Binzi in the box resulting in the latter being fouled to earn Yadah a penalty.
And up stepped Mhlanga to send Chilenga the wrong way and seal the precious away points.
Mangombe was full of praise for his players, but singled out Matema for special praise.
“I’m happy because the boys are responding well, they wanted it more than the opponents. If we keep on with the momentum no one can stop us. Once again Matema came and did pretty well” said Mangombe.
