STANFORD Stix Mutizwa marked his return as Black Rhinos coach with a win after his side got the better of fellow army team Cranborne Bullets at Vengere yesterday.

The football legend assumed the reins at Rhinos following the unexpected departure of Herbert Maruwa earlier in the week.

Maruwa, who had been steering the ship, was sacked last week over an incident in Triangle where he allegedly fought with the Triangle goalkeeper over the use of juju.

Veteran defender Denis Dauda   pounced on a loose ball in the danger zone on 85 minutes before drilling a low shot into the net to give Chauya Chipembere maximum points.

The win lifted them back to fifth position on the standings having fallen to eighth position after the defeat in Triangle.

Mutizwa was elated with the win.

“We are happy with the victory considering all that happened last week where we lost our coach. The team was traumatised and we had to do a lot of motivation and I am happy it paid off. We knew Cranborne are very good in midfield so we crowded our midfield with ball players and it paid dividends. It’s never easy playing against them, they are our sister team, “he said.

His counterpart Nesbert Saruchera said they were let down by poor conversion in the final third.

“I think we were not that bad in terms of performance. We played well, but our conversion rate was poor. Our target is to survive the chop and we will fight to the bitter end,” he said
